On Saturday 11th January, the Connected Coast Mablethorpe Community Exhibition Event took place at the Station Leisure and Learning Centre.

The event provided an opportunity for local people to find out about the exciting projects and multi-million pound investment being delivered in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea, thanks to Towns Fund government funding, and match funding.

With stands hosted by East Lindsey District Council, Magna Vitae, National Trust Sandilands, and, Heritage Lincolnshire and LCVS, the public were able to speak to project officers about the work that is being carried out within their community. During the day, attendees were also able to take part in tours of the Station Leisure and Learning Centre and the Campus for Future Living.

The latest annual Connected Coast annual report for Mablethorpe was shared at the event – and you can read this here. You can also find an audio version of the annual report below. Thank you to Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society for recording this.

Chair Chris Baron also gave a presentation at the event summarising the achievements of the last year. You can watch a short pre-recorded film of Chris talking about the highlights in the latest annual report here

There was also a crafts stand for young people at the event, and a postcard competition with children invited to design a postcard for Mablethorpe. The winners of the prize draw for this competition – which were chosen at random by Adrian Benjamin, Chair of our Mablethorpe Sub Group, were Alma Wood – Winner (£25 voucher) and Octavia Markwell – Runner Up (East Coast Trump Cards). Congratulations to you both! All the postcards will be designed and distributed in places that are supported by the Towns Fund programme later this year – more information will be coming soon.

Chris Baron commented: “Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us at the community exhibition event. It was fantastic to see so much interest in the projects, and such enthusiasm for the investment in the area.

“Particularly, it was great to be able to host the event at the Station Leisure and Learning Centre – the first completed Connected Coast project in Mablethorpe.

“In 2025, there will be even more progress for the projects as they move forward, and in some cases, complete, and we really will see the transformational impact of the work that has been taking place over the last few years.”
