The investment and improvements at Magna Vitae’s Embassy Theatre will bring new and exciting opportunities for entertainment, events, arts, culture, creativity, learning, employment, business, and enterprise to Skegness.
The Embassy Theatre will be redesigned with improved facilities. The redesign will be based on the Scandinavian culture house concept – the first of its kind in the UK. Through the culture house redesign, the new-look Embassy Theatre will become a community and social hub with culture at its heart, welcoming people into the theatre and Skegness for many different reasons, all year round.
The improvements will include a new two storey cultural involvement centre offering a lounge/café bar, informal meeting spaces, improved visitor seating in the foyers, and multi‐use workshop space. In addition, a new mezzanine floor will host space for activities on the first floor, and the outside spaces and entrances to the theatre will also be improved. The auditorium seating, floor and dressing rooms will be refurbished to continue improvement of the theatrical environment for customers, performers and commercial partners of the Theatre. A new Changing Places toilet and improved disability access are also planned.
The project is receiving £1.35M in Towns Fund investment through Connected Coast Town Deal, and East Lindsey District Council has also been awarded £5million funding from Arts Council England’s Cultural Development Fund. This investment will be used to transform the Embassy Theatre and for improvements to Skegness Pier and the surrounding area.
