Project Update: Skegness Foreshore Redevelopment

The Skegness Foreshore Masterplan presents a consistent and collective vision for the future use and enjoyment of Skegness’s foreshore area. This aims to ensure Skegness continues to provide a welcoming experience which is exhilarating, inclusive and memorable for both residents and visitors.

The Town Deal includes a focus on the following investments:

  • Tower Esplanade Pedestrianisation: The alterations to the Tower Esplanade area would involve closing a section of Tower Esplanade from the Embassy Centre mini roundabout to the promenade to public vehicles and rerouting traffic into Festival Car Park via South Parade/ Princes Parade.
The new works will complement recently completed improvements to lighting and seating in the area and help create a sense of arrival, pride and safety. This aims to boost trade and dwell time for local businesses. The works will also allow pedestrians and cars to move around more easily in the area.
  • Southern Boating Lake Event Arena: We plan to utilise the existing structures around the boating lake to create an outdoor events stage/arena and pavilion for activities such as concerts, light festivals and outdoor cinema. Improvements such as new lighting, water fountains, seating and the ability to pipe music around the lake will also be introduced to improve the value of this area of the Foreshore.
  • Flexible Events Space: To diversify the Foreshore area further and to attract a wider range of people and extend the season, it is recommended that the former bowling greens on South Parade are converted into a flexible events space for new pop-up events including farmers markets, mobile ice rinks and roller skating.
